In May 2012, Fundación Botín signed an agreement with Hospital Universitario Marqués de Valdecilla in Cantabria and Fundación Theodora for Doctores Sonrisa (Smile Doctors) to visit children hospitalised in that facility. In 2012, Fundación Botín won the “San Martín de la media capa” Award, granted by Fundación Obra San Martín, in recognition of Fundación Botín's Responsible Education programme, operating at Colegio San Martín in Santander, and for its support for the programme to promote integration based on leisure, benefiting some 125 disabled people.
Thanks to the Foundation's subsidy, Asociación Evangélica Nueva Vida offered training to 24 interns at El Dueso de Santoña prison in Cantabria, to provide them with values and strategies to prevent them from mis-treating or abusing women.
Fundación Amica also received support from Fundación Botín to help the families of 48 children with some kind of disability or limitation, as well as four disabled women. Fundación Botín also provided support for Asociación Caminando, which helps people with acquired brain injuries.
Lastly, the Foundation also cooperated with Asilo San Cándido in its activities, with Fundación Tutelar, in the care and monitoring of disabled people, and with Fundación Síndrome de Down de Cantabria, to support people with Down Syndrome during their secondary education.
