Every Summer we offer in collaboration with the University of Cantabria courses that bring the last trends in the educational scene.
SLEEPING BEAUTY II: Awakening creativity through the arts and emotions. Santander, from 8 to 12 July 2013.
The Botín Foundation supports the development of creativity in society. We are convinced wealth, and social and economic growth, are generated by those people who are capable of creating (objects, ideas, relationships...).
The year 2012 was an important year for creativity at the Foundation: creative activities were held for school children and families, a summer course looked at ways to awaken it -as if it were a kind of "sleeping beauty"- and an international report provided an in-depth study of the significance it has in our daily lives.
In 2013 we wish to continue exploring new ways of unblocking people´s creative powers and we know the arts are an extraordinary vehicle to achieve this. This summer course will research and closely examine the power of the arts to contribute to people´s wellbeing and development, as well as to produce emotions that unblock and/or awaken our capacity to create in all aspects of our lives.
Artists and experts in creativity and emotional intelligence will explain their theories and ideas in master classes, share their experiences in insightful conversations and propose practical workshops to generate new knosledge about this subject.
In this summer course, the last to be held before the Botín Centre is opened in 2014, we will find out more about the Centre´s mission to: "enrich life in Santander to contribute through the arts to society´s wellbeing and development; encouraging creative talent and its power to generate wealth in particular".
