Library and publications

The Botín Foundation library specialises in 19th-century to contemporary art, and music. The online catalogue currently has 28.000 documents, including monographs, magazines, scores, DVDs and sound recordings. Opened to the public in 1994, it is based on the personal library of Federico Sopeña (1917-1991), Director of Madrid´s Conservatory of Music from 1951 to 1956 and Director of the Prado Museum from 1981 to 1982, President of the jury of the International Piano Competition of Santander since 1980 and vice president of the Albéniz Foundation since 1987. He wanted to explicitly contain, as a reason for his legacy, the special affection and gratitude he felt toward the Botin Foundation, especially to Mrs. Paloma O'Shea.

Each year there are publications on all the Foundation´s areas of activity: Art, Rural Development, Science, Music and the Trend Observatory, making up a major collection of documents and research material. For acquisition:
